The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry – Andrei Nesterenko made a statement according to which, at this time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation considers the probability of introducing retaliatory measures against Canada due to the introduction of the latest tightening of visa rules for Russian citizens.
According to Nesterenko, such a step will undoubtedly lead to a deterioration in relations, however, in the Russian capital it is believed that the adoption of such measures is necessary so that the Russians do not experience additional “paper” difficulties in the design of the Canadian visa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also added that the visa issue will be discussed in November during bilateral negotiations with the Canadian side.
Earlier, the tourism industry union turned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, which complained that the new questionnaire for obtaining a Canadian visa contains many unnecessary issues. So, for example, a Russian who has the opportunity to purchase cabinets for children’s on and who wants to visit Canada must indicate the fact of service in the army, intelligence or police, but also the period of service in which the occupation in which served, his unit number and its location , the rank and duties of the applicant, as well as the name, surname and patronymic of the commander of the part.
In the Tourism Industry Union, such requirements considered such requirements falling under the corresponding article of the Russian Criminal Code on the disclosure of state secrets.
Now the Embassy of Canada takes new profiles with the old. It is also noted that the last version of the questionnaire did not contain detailed questions regarding the service.
On the website of the Canadian Embassy in Russia, it is reported that in order to submit an application for a visa, you need to fill out the application form. As well as applications to it. All questions that the Foreign Ministry appeal to dissatisfaction are contained in the application.
