The expectant mothers who love to talk to a child during pregnancy will be interested in knowing that the baby not only hears, but also remembers the words he heard before the birth. This conclusion was reached by specialists of the University of Helsinki, writes Medical Xpress magazine.
“The results of our studies indicate that the brain of a newborn child is perfectly adapted to the sounds of the surrounding world. Only born children already know how his mother, dad and other close people speak, ”says one of the authors of the study by Minna Hotilainen.
The fact that the kids remember sounds while in the maternal womb can initially cause surprise, because there are no neural connections in their brain, and therefore the processing of information is not possible. But scientists have identified signs confirming that the children have not yet heard sounds can remember parts of the song and conversations.
In their work, the researchers tested the children’s memory for the word “t-t-ta-ta”, which means anything in the Finnish language. “This is a pseudoscope selected for our research. It includes three syllables, and we stopped the choice on it in order to complicate the brain in the process of determining the changes and cause difficulties when memorizing, ”explains Hotilaineenen.
Scientists tested women from the twenty -ninth week of pregnancy to the very birth. Half of the study participants listened several thousand times for the recording of the word “t-t-ta-ta”. From time to time they included the recording of the words “something like that”. After the birth of children, scientists using magnetic resonance imaging studied the activity of individual sections of their brain, when pseudoscience was pronounced in their presence. Children who heard him before reacted to him in a hundred percent of cases.
