For several years, the capital of France was recognized by the Eiffel Tower. However, only 4 decades of this was built by its main competitor – the Office Center Tower Monparnas. Its main negative feature is that asbest was used in its construction.
Tower Montparnas (Parisian Office Center Tour Montparnasse) is a skyscraper, the height of which is 210 meters. It was built in the early 70s of the last century from glass, concrete and steel, which was typical for that period. About 5 thousand people come to work every day, who spend 8 hours on one of the floors of this 59-story building.
Recently, many companies have begun to refuse to rent premises in the Montparnas tower, so the costs of maintaining the building its owners are rapidly increasing. The main reason for this behavior is the results of the audit conducted for the first time in 2005. Then they were taken to analyze air sample in the office center, which showed an excess of a safe level of asbestos content.
Earlier, asbestos were widely used in construction, but after this thin -fiber mineral was recognized as one of the most dangerous carcinogenic substances. Once in the human body, these fibers can cause a malignant tumor of the stomach, lungs and many other organs, and this may not appear immediately, but after many years.
As for the Monparnas tower, since 2009, the dangerous concentrations of asbestos have been recorded in the air of the office of the office center more than 72 times.
Not wanting to expose the lives of their employees, many company owners, immediately moved away from the offices. For their part, the authorities of Paris warned that if the owners of the center did not correct the situation, then the tower would be closed, and the tenants of the premises were simply evicted.
To remove asbestos products from the design, at least $ 250 million will be required.
